The game is very new and a lot of the data is still unknown.
It is a Remake: a lot of the original game was kept (core story and progression, characters, etc.) while a lot was tweaked (combat, enemies, NG+, etc.), so until we know more or proved otherwise it is generally supposed that SFC/Remaster data is used.
